Glutamate is probably best known as “monosodium glutamate” or “MSG” which is used as a flavor or taste enhancer in food. Glutamate is low in patients with migraines. Clinically, low glutamate is implicated in depression, chronic fatigue, lack of concentration, low energy levels, and sleep disturbances.
