5-Hydroxymethyl-2-furoic and Furan 2,5-dicarboxylic are byproducts of Aspergillus and other fungal species. This can indicate that Aspergillus mold from food or water damage is growing in the digestive system. Elevations in Furancarbonylglycine can also indicate mold.
These markers are important because Aspergillus produces a specific mycotoxin called aflatoxin which is a carcinogen. These mycotoxins are also damaging to the kidneys and liver.
The presence of mold can suppress immune function in the gut increasing susceptibility to other microbial overgrowths.

5-Hydroxymethyl-furoic Acid is a naturally occurring human urinary metabolite, a nematicide, a bacterial xenobiotic metabolite and a fungal metabolite. It is a metabolite produced by Aspergillus and possibly other fungal species in the GI tract. Consider a Gut zoomer or fungal antibodies test in order to determine the root cause. It was first identified in the urine of a leukemic patient who was excreting an abnormal amount of its glycine derivative. Multi-strain probiotics can be supplemented to improve the condition.
Prescription or natural antifungals, along with high potency multi-strain probiotics, may reduce overgrowth levels.
